Saturn officially enters Capricorn on December 19, 2017 at 11:48 pm ET.

  • Saturn will be in Capricorn until December 17, 2020.
  • Saturn enters a sign about every 29 years or so.
  • The last time Saturn was in Capricorn was from February, 1988 to February, 1991.
  • Saturn is the Ruling planet of Capricorn, bringing extra emphasis to how these two powerful symbols relate to our lives.

The Sun follows Saturn, entering Capricorn for the Winter Solstice on December 21, 2017 at 11:27 am ET. It will be a time of learning, particularly through trial and error and in practical ways. A lot of things will boil down to time and money being the larger deciding factors over the next few years. It’s time to get more serious about your goals.

If you’ve been following along to my horoscopes, you’ll know that Pluto is now in Capricorn as well, which brings quite an intensity to the political times we live in. Remember, that Pluto won’t be in Capricorn again for another 250 years!

Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign that is concerned with initiating and establishing goals worth reaching, being productive to achieve and climb that mountain toward your success, manifesting real world results, being a leader, and leaving a legacy.

Saturn is concerned with the material world. It is wise to be more attentive to your physical world, your body, the earth, nature and environment during this period especially. Time, debt, finances, cause and effect, responsibility, karma and consequences are in focus.

Shifts in nature-related phenomenon are possible, such as earthquake and volcanic activity, especially possible with Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn.

Saturn is the reaper of time. You reap what you sow.

With Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, our perception of time will change dramatically over the next few years. Getting things accomplished and reaching goals may seem to take much longer and require more effort and determination than expected. But, practical hard work, time and patience is the necessary toolkit to manifest anything real and of value. Effort and a good work ethic can build confidence over time.

If you’re feeling limited in your profession, if you don’t have the career you really want, or your finances are not in order, you’ll have to work hard to change your outlook during this period. This is the time to get real about it, and to focus on what practical efforts can build, slowly but surely, to a larger goal. Don’t dwell on the problems. Seek solutions.

Since time stops for nobody, and once it’s spent that’s it, Saturn in Capricorn is an added reminder to make your time count before it’s up.

Everybody seems to want more money, but of course time is our most precious resource. You can always make more money, but you can’t make more time.

The world will demand that people be more responsible during this time. Laziness and a lack of focus will not cut it in a world of responsibilities. When things get sloppy, life will feel less stable as a natural consequence. Giving in to weakness will not feel rewarding. Procrastination leading to worry, stress and often financial issues will be your prompt for real, practical changes.

For those of you that are ambitious but feel like you’re running out of time, and if you tend to worry about not getting everything done in life that you really want to do, it is best that you get organized.

Saturn likes things to have structure and organization to function best. Using time managements tools is of benefit. Planning helps bring security and confidence. If you’re all over the place, it’s just going to get messier and feel heavier and heavier the longer you take before you get on top of things.

However, it’s not advised to be so strict or militant with your time management that you end up feeling like a robot in a time-bound prison just going through the motions while life slips you by.

Those who assign themselves too many obligations should slow down and be more choosy about where time, effort and energy is spent.

Holding onto things is natural and provides a sense of security, but it’s also a good time to purge clutter out of your life that you don’t want. Put more focus on the things that are most valuable, purposeful and meaningful.

Changes to how we perceive and relate to power and authority, business, economics and career, leadership and politics are signified by Pluto in Capricorn along with Saturn. This is the big leagues.

In terms of climbing the corporate ladder, Capricorn would signify the employer rather than the employee. Capricorn would be the boss, the owner, the decision maker, the authority figure. There is a patriarchal power about Capricorn; a corporate power, practical and logical, bound by time, order and function.

Success means different things to different people. This is the time to observe methods that work for others that have experience in the direction you would like to focus on.

With Uranus in Aries, there has been a challenge between the identity of the common people, with those at the top that wield the power. The differences and the dynamics between the top and all below has been leading us towards bigger changes to the structure of our society, which I talked a lot about throughout 2017.

Now, we are likely to see authority figures in government and the corporate world vying for much more power, control and authority, but they will be faced with challenges from many angles from the people below. Egos and power tripping can cause significant problems in political and business circles.

Now that Saturn is in Capricorn, we are likely to see power struggles get heavier.

Though Saturn would be considered more reserved, Pluto in Capricorn is a dominant force of purging, getting rid of the old, and transforming the structure of our society. Jupiter in Scorpio also brings added emphasis to Pluto’s power in Capricorn now.

Of course, power struggles will get more attention and could alter the course of history. More hidden secrets are sure to be exposed but a lot of effort will be made to keep things behind the scenes.

Confidence in politics, politicians and the political process is likely to decrease and go through big shifts of perception. Decisions by authority figures and the policies and procedures of the government and financial institutions will have more skeptical reviews. Bureaucratic processes can feel more stifling and time consuming. Rules can feel dominating and suppressive.

People will be more inquisitive about how decisions by those in political and financial power affects those below. People don’t want a world of monopolies and plutocracies using their power to dominate or suppress freedom.

More people will want to gain back their own power and feel like they are taking the lead on things that are important to them with Saturn in Capricorn.

Are you the author and authority of your own life? Who is making decisions for you? Who is in control? Issues of authority will return again and again during this period.

Privacy issues and influences of reputation will be a topic to discuss as well.

Saturn in Capricorn brings karma and repayment of debts to the forefront.

There is a strong link between Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn with Jupiter in Scorpio.Together they symbolize struggles in the political and financial world – a push and pull of the energy in financial resources.

Debt and financial responsibility will require much more attention while Saturn is in Capricorn. Not being able to pay bills or reach financial long term goals will cause many to restructure their lives. Feeling restricted by financial changes and challenges will influence a lot of decisions. Those that want high paying careers will need to work hard to prove their value in their field. We are likely to see much talk of monetary policy.

Factors of debt, interest rates, taxes, mortgages and the housing market could put on more pressure. Financial issues especially with pensions and old age security could get more serious attention.

We are seeing giant, expansive moves of wealth towards cryptocurrencies, strongly symbolized by Jupiter in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn. Greed and fear are known to be the dominant forces that shift the direction of the stock market, so do be careful if you get caught up in the cycles and the hype so you don’t crash and burn.

I also talk much more about financial changes in the Jupiter in Scorpio horoscope.

Saturn will be finished in Capricorn on December 17, 2020 to enter Aquarius.

Saturn is a heavy hitter, and demands a lot. We’ll look to other areas for more uplifting, positive, and supportive perspectives over the next 3 years to ease our transitions.

Saturn in Capricorn is good for putting in the effort to achieve tangible goals and transform your life.
