The Big Shift
Saturn entering Aquarius says, “This is a time of serious change in the world as we move into a different future.” And, it says a lot more…
Just as Saturn is leaving Capricorn and entering Aquarius, we are seeing huge challenges in our world as the coronavirus impacts us all globally.
We have Mars, Jupiter and Pluto meeting in conjunction in Capricorn just as Saturn is transiting into Aquarius. These are huge power players that can bring a lot of major change especially as they meet in conjunction and their power symbolically gets more intense. No wonder everything that is happening in the world is coming to a major head.
Mars and Pluto meeting can indicate fears, while Jupiter expands things globally. I also talk more about these things in the New Moon in Aries Horoscope.
Capricorn is the sign largely concerned with the material world, political and business matters and the economy where the biggest power players and authority figures run the show.
Capricorn is also the sign of careers, so we are seeing the tension and fears build as people’s careers are affected at this time and businesses are closing affecting our economy.
Also consider that Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, and Uranus is in Taurus now which represents shocks and surprises to jobs, income, work, money, stock market. So we can see what’s happening in the financial world and our careers are seriously being brought to attention now just as Saturn enters Aquarius!
Saturn is the planet of restriction, limitations and challenges and Saturn is the ruler of both Capricorn and Aquarius so we are seeing major emphasis here with this transit tying Capricorn and Aquarius together.
Saturn is a heavy planet symbolizing structure, order and rules. Here we see policies putting limits on how we operate in the real world from the top down.
The current quarantines demonstrate the prison-like, restrictive aspect Saturn can represent to create and establish order.
A hugely obvious example we see in the world just as Saturn is entering Aquarius is the strong push for social distancing as well, and people are being pushed to work from home, which is getting more people to work online using technology which is very Aquarian.
As a lot of people are in quarantine, this can be a meaningful time to positively to recreate your life and tap into that creative, innovative force of Aquarius.
Also keep in mind that the Destiny Point is in Cancer as Saturn enters Aquarius, which indicates the importance of being at home, with family and those closest. You can use this time to reconnect with your home life for your personal well being.
Aquarius reminds us that through challenges, we can look to the positive and actively make this a more hopeful time where we can create opportunities to bring out the best in ourselves. Using this time to appreciate nature and to dream up innovative ideas, and to get creative is a positive way to use your time now. A positive mindset, with efforts towards solutions can help us achieve new, positive outcomes for our future.
More About Aquarius
Aquarius has 2 ruling planets. We know that Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, but Saturn is also the ancient ruling planet of Aquarius, while Uranus is the modern ruling planet of Aquarius. Uranus is in Taurus now.
Aquarius is an air sign which represents the mind. Like Gemini the twins, and Libra the balancing scales, Aquarius also has a duality of the mind which is symbolized by 2 waves. This can represent the flow of air, and as Aquarius is known as the water bearer, the flow of water, or the currents of electricity. Aquarius symbolizes the future, sciences and technologies, as well as pouring wisdom into the collective consciousness.
Saturn in Aquarius says it is time for the collective to get more serious and responsible in how we are thinking and what we are doing in our social world and material world. Challenges can lead to an awakening.
With two rulers, Saturn the restrictor, and Uranus the liberator, there can be the duality, the battle of the mind over opposing ideas. Our perceptions could go either way, but since Saturn is so serious, it can indicate a more serious frame of mind is important to utilize now.
Aquarians are known to be fickle minded. If you’ve ever known an Aquarian you’ll know that they can get very excited and enthusiastic about an idea (Uranus), and as a fixed sign, they can become very stuck, serious and fixated on a specific idea (Saturn), upholding it as the most important thing in the world. But then, when another idea suddenly comes up or new information catches their fancy, which can be totally opposing and contradictory to their original idea they were so stuck on, they can suddenly uphold the new idea as their new gospel truth and throw the previous idea right out the window. Aquarians can get fixed on an idea, but just as strongly switch to a new idea quickly and drastically changing what they think and believe.
Aquarians can also be hopeful and positive one minute, and pessimistic and negative the next, or they can have long periods where they are thinking in one direction, then suddenly switch and be in another frame of mind and ride that wave for a long period of time. At times it can seem that their mind is distant, off in la la land and drifting somewhere in between reality and fantasy.
The benefit of having Saturn in Aquarius on personal levels is that it will ensure you are more picky about the people you associate with, particularly friends and social contacts. Meaningful relationships built at this time can be long lasting. Saturn can bring necessary structure to groups so they operate in a practical, methodical, orderly way to ensure intended results are reached. Saturn in Aquarius also reminds us that being responsible can lead to meaningful rewards.
The problem with Saturn in Aquarius is that it can lead people to feel more isolated, restricted, disconnected or even lonely in their social lives. Social anxiety can be an issue, especially if you have Aquarius as your ascendant. The controlling aspect of Saturn can cause difficulties in relationships. But, mature, responsible relationships are likely to be stronger during this period.
More On How We Could See Saturn Demonstrated In Aquarius
While Saturn has been finishing in Capricorn we are seeing the powerful connection of Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn leading to a lot of dramatic and huge changes in our world. Of course Mars, Saturn and Pluto do indicate fear, while Jupiter is our thoughts and beliefs expanding globally.
Now as Saturn leaves Capricorn to enter Aquarius we are seeing these dramatic changes in a lockdown of our society to try to stop and contain the coronavirus from spreading. Quarantines are in effect around the world leading up to Saturn entering Aquarius. Social Distancing is already showing signs of putting Saturn’s limits on Aquarian socializing and social groups in the real world.
Since Aquarius is largely about social groups and the collective, and Saturn is about limitations and obstacles, we can see how the astrology is reflected in our real world experiences.
But of course, with the Aquarian rebellious side, a lot of people are not taking the rules of authority seriously. Unfortunately, what this means is that the rules of the quarantines are likely to get stricter if the coronavirus continues to spread over a longer period of time.
Saturn is about time and karma as well, so what people do will have a significant influence on how long the coronavirus issue continues to be a problem.
There are a lot of differing perspectives at this time, and a lot of conspiracies about what is going on in the world, which is to be expected with Pluto in Capricorn – indicating looking at the underbelly and the darker, hidden side of what’s going on behind the scenes with the political power structure in our world.
Aquarius is a sign of technology, and we have seen technology in China used as the system locks people down – with drones telling people to go back home if they are outside, and to put their masks back on. It’s interesting to consider that masks are quite a symbol of not only stopping disease, but prevention of human interaction and socializing.
Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn, so we will continue to see how the powers-that-be deal with putting in control measures using technology.
We are already seeing a push for people to work from home and thus using the internet and online technology for their work and careers. It could prove challenging for companies to implement social technologies quickly for people to work with Saturn entering Aquarius as Saturn slows things down significantly.
Saturn is about structure, rules, order, authority and work effort, which is greatly symbolized by the structure and operations of our society and economy. As authority takes positions of power it can be demonstrated in tougher laws and orders that can feel restricting. The strength of restriction Saturn can demonstrate can be seen in prison, a police state, and martial law. Tying this in with technology we can see a push toward a strong big brother type of system implemented by authority figures.
While Saturn is in Aquarius we are going to see much stronger push toward technology used in the workforce and online networking becoming a more dominant way of life. People who like to be in the real world can feel the push toward more online work efforts to be limiting and restrictive. Aquarius likes to feel freedom, so it can be a challenging dichotomy.
This feels like a revolutionary time because Aquarius is a revolutionary sign and Saturn is serious business. It’s like the challenges we are facing (Saturn) are pushing us into the future (Aquarius), where more people will be working online, shopping and delivery services could enter into the future. We may see drones become more commonplace over the next few years, not only for delivery services but also for authority figures to enforce more rules and methods of governance.
With Saturn in social-tech-sign Aquarius we are likely to see a continuation or further developments of social controls and restrictions online with social tech companies pushing for more control over what can and can not be said unless decidedly approved by those in positions of authority and power. Stricter social and community guidelines and rules are likely to increase while Saturn is in Aquarius. Artificial Intelligence will be used more frequently to deal with work and rules of socializing and censorship, etc.
Though we may get more heavily attached to online technologies and social networks, more people may feel like it’s overwhelming and want to step away from being online too much so they can get back in touch with the real world. We may also see more outages of the internet and social networks during this period. We started to see more signs of what Saturn in Capricorn would demonstrate when Mercury was Retrograde in Aquarius.
Saturn reminds us that rules and control measures are necessary for order out of chaos. It also reminds us that we must work together responsibly to create order. However, it could become too dominating when authority figures use it to increase their power and control.
With the dual qualities of Aquarius, we are likely to see issues of bias continue to be an issue with online communications. People could be stuck on their perspective, leading to disagreements on what is true and how people should deal with this global issue.
We are likely to see a push toward media and information that is spread influencing the minds and thoughts of people across the world collectively to be more responsible in their reporting. We could see limitations put on information that is deemed as untrue and non-factual, and media companies could have stricter rules placed on the information they disseminate to the masses to curb sensationalist, politically driven headlines that manifest hysteria.
It is also important for people to be more discerning of the information we receive through social media and media companies, as we consider what the intention is of those that are in control of what information is pushed forward. How are certain ideas and information promoted, featured, highlighted and pushed into dominating the collective consciousness and the world that intentionally manipulates what people think and believe is true about reality? How is technology, like bots, used to create a narrative that people believe? More people are likely to be hesitant in following blindly, and many may choose to restrict their media consumption in an effort to be more responsible for their own thoughts. Saturn in Aquarius can represent protecting your mind.
We are likely to see more authority, rules and policies put in place about Foundations, Non-Government Organizations, Charities, humanitarian aid and the like, looking at the structure and procedures of such organizations to ensure they are operating properly, especially in their use of finances. We could see a stop put to those operating with irresponsible practices.
We are also seeing the stock market have dramatic swings – this is Mars, Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn territory creating massive swings and expressions of fear. Plus, we have Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius, in Taurus indicating shocks to the market as Taurus rules money, income, work and security.
In terms of technology and biology (Uranus in Taurus) while Saturn is in Aquarius, we are likely to see innovations and developments in medicines as the scientific community works to stop the coronavirus. Biotechnology is likely to become a more dominant part of our everyday lives heading into the future.
Interestingly, Venus is in Taurus just as Saturn enters Aquarius. I saw video of how waterways and air quality is improving dramatically since quarantines have been in place and industrial manufacturing businesses have shut down, revealing to us the beauty of nature – just how Venus in Taurus likes it.
I have a lot more to say about Saturn in Aquarius and current trends coming soon.
